TRAINING

Here at Brian Reimer Stables, training horses involves three very important aspects:

  • We Value Individuality
  • We Have Passion
  • We Create the Picture

We Value Individuality

Each horse in training is treated as an individual - with its own unique attitude, personality, and ability.  Unlike some trainers who try and train each horse in the same manner, we tailor each horse’s training experience to the need of the horse.   Some horses need a training regimen that requires more time and intensity to reach their respective potential, while others would sour with such a training regimen.  The important thing for us is that we don't under-train or over-train the horse.  We want to see each horse rise to its potential.

We Have Passion

The second aspect is the desire and joy we experience in seeing a horse progress and improve. The change that takes place in just one year of sound professional training is often remarkable. To see a young colt fill out, mature and do well at each level in its training is exciting. As some horses are late bloomers we can stick with a horse, giving it that extra attention when others might give up.

We Create the Picture

The last aspect is matching the training of the horse with the unique qualities of a rider. Taking pleasing picture is a must. We also seek to match the ability, strength, and riding style of the rider to the ability, strength, and style of the horse. A last consideration is to match the gearing of the horse with the balance of the rider.
